History

Jarrahdale General Store

Originally built on Foster Way by the Timber Company in the 1870s, the Jarrahdale General Store has played an important role in the community for over 150 years.

Over the years, the store has undergone a number of renovations, but it has retained its original character. It was relocated to present site in 1959 and has traded under several names including the Co-op, 4 Square Store, King’s Store and lately Jarrahdale General Store.

Today, it is a popular tourist destination, offering a glimpse into the history of the Jarrahdale community.

The Jarrahdale General Store is a reminder of the town’s rich heritage and its importance as a Timber Mill Town. It is also a symbol of the resilience and community spirit of the Jarrahdale people.

Jarrahdale Historic Town

The historic town of Jarrahdale is located about an hour south of Perth, Western Australia. It is one of the state’s oldest settlements and offers visitors a unique and interesting day trip.

Jarrahdale was established in the 1870s as a Timber Mill Town. The jarrah timber from the area was in high demand, and the town quickly grew.
The timber industry declined in the mid-20th century, but Jarrahdale has preserved its historic charm.

Today, the town is a popular tourist destination, with a number of attractions that include a museum, birdwatching and walk trails.
